We are made up of about 60% to 70% of water and our system recognizes this element as home.
Water is the most healing element there is. Think of that shower you take after a long day at work or that dive into the sea after which you walk 'clean' back onto the sand. You literally rinse everything off you.
Warm water relaxes. (34 to 35 degrees) Without exception. You could see it as a 'shortcut' to turn inward. You move from your normal active waking state to your creative/meditative state, also dream state, similar to REM sleep. Your two hemispheres start working together. This kicks off the production of oxytocin and endorphins. This gives a sense of peace and well-being, and gives a chance to your creative problem-solving ability to become active.
Are you pregnant? The baby in your belly lives in amniotic fluid. Our first home.. The water makes you feel like you are back in the womb where you started this adventure, life.
To give birth in a balanced way, it is important that you are close to your own core and feel relaxed. Water can support you enormously in this journey.
The earlier you gently and safely expose your baby to water, the more confident he or she will feel in this element. My work with babies in the water is focused on creating a deep connection with the Self, family and the element. Creating safe and enveloping moments in the water enhances a healthy and balanced growth and development. Both physically and mentally.
